Cookie policy

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. Most sites use them to remember things between pages — that you are signed in, what is in a basket, which filters you chose. Similar technologies such as local storage do the same job in a slightly different way, and this policy covers those too.

As it stands, this website sets no cookies of its own. It does not track you, it does not profile you, and it does not run advertising or analytics scripts.

The filters on the cars-for-sale page are held in the web address itself rather than in a cookie, which is why a filtered view can be shared or bookmarked and why your back button works as you would expect.

Two external services are loaded by this site as it currently stands:

• Google Fonts serves the two typefaces used throughout. Requesting a font sends your IP address to Google.
• Unsplash serves the demonstration photography. Requesting an image sends your IP address to Unsplash.

Neither sets a cookie in the way this site uses them. Both can be removed entirely by self-hosting the fonts and the photographs, which is the intended arrangement once real vehicle images are supplied.

Whether analytics, a live-chat widget or an advertising pixel will be added is still to be decided — to be confirmed. If any of those are introduced, this page will be updated and a consent banner added before they load.

For completeness, this is how any future cookies would be grouped and what consent each would need:

• Strictly necessary — needed for the site to work at all. No consent required, and none are set today.
• Preferences — remembering choices such as sort order. Consent required.
• Analytics — counting visits and understanding which pages are useful. Consent required, and not currently used.
• Marketing — following visitors across other sites for advertising. Consent required, and not currently used.

Every mainstream browser lets you see which cookies are stored, delete them, and block new ones. Look under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking cookies entirely will not stop this site working, because it does not rely on them.

Most browsers also offer a “do not track” signal and a private browsing mode, both of which you are welcome to use here.
